Using Your Smartphone
With the move to gMail we can now offer users the ability to manage and sync their own mobile devices with the district email, calendar, and contacts. When you sync your device you should be aware that security measures will be enforced through the sync process. You will be required to use a password to protect district information and your personal data if your device is lost or stolen. Your device will also be remotely wiped after 10 unsuccessful attempts at the password to ensure you are not hacked (the owner can also remotely wipe their device if they feel there is a security issue). There are some nice benefits to go with the security the district enforces, including the ability for end users to help track down lost or stolen devices and protect their own personal data in the event that a device is stolen or is lost.

The district logs the type of phone to aid in management, but does not access personal information from other Accounts or other activity on the phone. By syncing your device to the BHM Schools accounts you accept the security requirements and the responsibility to maintain data security. The district is not liable for any information lost if this occurs and does not require that you sync your device. We want to encourage you to back up your device often and protect yourself against loss or damage. Although we do not offer direct technical support for this process we are offering as many resources as possible to make this easy for you.
